Seven Day Alaskan Cruise

These photos were taking during our 7 day Alaskan cruise of the Inside Passage on the Norwegian Spirit. We left from Seattle on July 9 and returned on July 16. The ship stopped in Ketchikan on Monday and we went ashore to walk around and ride a trolley. The next day was Juneau, Alaska’s capital. Our excursion included gold panning and a salmon bake. We saw a mine shaft leading to an abandoned gold mine, bald eagles, and a spectacular waterfall. Out of Juneau, the ship took a detour and stopped by Sawyer Glacier before pushing on to Skagway on Wednesday. At Skagway, Alyssa and her grandma and grandpa (Terri’s mom and dad) took a train ride up into British Columbia while Terri and I rode a shuttle bus into Yukon Territory to canoe around Spirit Lake and ride horses through the countryside. It was a lovely day and the views spectacular. The following day we arrived in Prince Rupert, BC, for a rainy day tour of an historic cannery and a jet boat ride back to the ship. Friday was a day at sea so the cook-staff created a chocoholic’s dreamland. It was great to look at, great to eat and we were stuffed.

The following thumbnails lead to some of the photos taken with the digital camera.
